Check of serviceability of functioning of the fuel pump, measurement of pressure of fuel

See preventions at the beginning of pressure Sbrasyvaniye's Section in a power supply system.

For check of pressure of fuel the special manometer with a scale of a wide range and a transitional nozzle for manometer connection to injection system is required.

General checks

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Make sure available of a fuel tank of enough of fuel.
2. Be convinced that the fuel pump really works. Ask the assistant to include ignition, having turned a key in the situation ON, - in a fuel tank the characteristic sound of the working pump (the pump should work about two seconds) should be heard.

The sound of the working pump is well audible through an open mouth of a fuel tank. If the pump does not turn on, pass at once to check of its electric chain.

Verification of the pressure head characteristic of the fuel pump

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove a damper of pulsations of fuel (see. Undressed Sbrasyvaniye pressure in a power supply system) and screw on its place a transitional nozzle for manometer connection.

2. Without starting the engine, include ignition. Track, that To/in it was switched off. The fuel pump will turn on on pair of seconds, - pressure in a power supply system should rise (check the manometer indication) and to be stabilized.

3. Start the engine and warm up it on single turns to normal working temperature. Compare the manometer indication to requirements of Specifications. Now disconnect a vacuum hose from a regulator of pressure of fuel, - the indication of a manometer should rise immediately, besides to the value stipulated in Specifications.

4. If at a detachment of a vacuum hose pressure does not raise, by means of the manual vacuum pump create in a regulator depression by depth of 305 ÷ 355 mm of mercury. If now pressure falls, check serviceability of functioning of a source of depression, otherwise replace a regulator.

5. If results of measurement of pressure fall outside the limits an admissible range, execute the following checks:

a) If pressure is excessively high, check serviceability of giving on a depression regulator. Depth of depression should fluctuate with change of turns of the engine. If depression is present, check a condition and passableness of a hose/tube of return of fuel. If the returnable line as it should be, replace a regulator.
b) At excessively small pressure replace the fuel filter, having excluded probability of violation of its passableness (the filter is built in assembly of the gasoline pump/sensor of fuel consumption and it is taken together with the last, - see. Section Removal and installation of the fuel pump). If replacement of the filter does not help to correct a situation, establish the locking gate on a site between a regulator and the returnable fuel line (instead of the gate it is possible to establish a piece of a flexible hose which can be easily pressed by nippers or a clamp). Start the engine and start to block slowly the gate / to press a hose. If pressure rises above value of 3.3 kgfs/cm 2, replace a regulator (see. Section Removal and installation of a regulator of pressure of fuel). Attention: Do not allow pressure lifting above value of 4.2 kgfs/cm 2. Do not press actually returnable fuel line in order to avoid risk of its damage.
c) If pressure remains excessively low even at the blocked returnable line, check on existence of leaks an injector (ы) injection (see. Section Removal and installation of the fuel highway and fuel injectors). Also check serviceability of the fuel pump.

6. Having finished check, dump pressure (see. Undressed Sbrasyvaniye pressure in a power supply system) and disconnect a manometer.

Check of an electric chain of the fuel pump

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

More detailed information on the scheme of an electric chain of the fuel pump contains in Head Onboard electric equipment.

1. If the fuel pump at inclusion of ignition does not function (from a fuel tank characteristic sounds are not audible), check a condition of a safety lock of the fuel pump (No. 1), or ACG S safety lock (both on 15 And) in the assembly block located in an impellent compartment. In case of need replace the beaten-out safety lock and repeat check. If after safety lock replacement the pump starts to work, check electroconducting of its chain on existence of signs of short circuit on a site between the PGM-FI relay and the pump.

Models considered in the real Management are equipped with a special contour of permission of start of the engine, carrying out food giving on the No. plug 2 main relays only at the squeezed-out coupling (RKPP) / the lever of the AT selector established in the position "R". Protection of this contour against overloads is provided by a special safety lock on 7.5 And, - check a safety lock No. 13 condition in the assembly block in an impellent compartment of the car.

2. If replacement of safety locks does not lead to restoration of functioning of the pump, check a condition of an electric chain of the main relay.

The main relay is fixed on an arm established under the dashboard of the car, to the left of a steering column. Ask the assistant to include-switch off several times ignition and check serviceability of giving of tension of the battery on the relay socket (see an accompanying illustration).

3. At the switched-off ignition tension should take place on the socket plug 7. On the plug 5 tension should be present only at the included ignition (do not start the engine) whereas the plug 2 should запитываться only at the squeezed-out pedal of coupling (model with RKPP) / the lever of the selector transferred to the position "R".
4. If tension is absent, check a chain condition on a site between the relay and RSM, otherwise make sure of serviceability actually the relay.

5. A wire crossing point connect the positive plug of the battery to the plug 2, the plug 1 earth. By means of an ohmmeter make sure available conductivity between plugs 4 and 5. If conductivity is absent, replace the relay.

6. Now submit a food from the battery on the plug of 5 relays, the plug 3 earth. Now conductivity should take place between plugs 6 and 7, otherwise replace the relay.
7. If conductivity takes place, submit a food on the plug 6, earth the plug 1 and check conductivity between plugs 4 and 5. In the absence of conductivity replace the relay, otherwise check a chain condition on sites between a safety lock, the relay and the pump.
8. If during described above check to reveal a cause of failure of the pump it is not possible, make sure of serviceability of giving of a food on assembly of the fuel pump in a fuel tank. If tension moves regularly, replace assembly of the pump/sensor of fuel consumption (see. Section Removal and installation of the fuel pump).
